Inclusivity in mathematics conferences_

 

We are collating resources to help conference organisers make their events more inclusive, with a specific focus on online (and hybrid) mathematics events, and accessibility for people with sensory disabilities, such as visual or hearing impairment.

 

We believe that there are specific challenges associated to the field of mathematics, such as the recognition of formulas by software for visually impaired people.

 

There have been recent efforts by the American Mathematical Society on how to move content online while making it accessible to people with sensory disabilities.

 

In this project we would like to focus in particular on the organisation of live online events. We hope that the insights we gather during this process will also provide useful resources for other fields and types of events.
